BBAA Baseball and Softball Levels of Play

 

 Here is a brief description of the various levels we offer:  

Shetland  |  Pinto  |  Mustang Bronco  |  Pony  |  Girls Softball

Age is defined as the age of the player on 7/31/10 for baseball and 12/31/09 for softball. 
 

Shetland Division   Ages 5 and 6   Cost: $70 Plus Fundraiser
A tee ball (soft) is used. Players hit off of a tee to start the year. The second half of the season, the coach will pitch four pitches to the batter, the player will get 1 attempt from the tee if unsuccessful hitting a pitched ball. This level is designed to teach the fundamentals. No scores or standings are recorded. The division will consist of Wood Dale teams and Bensenville teams. The season will consist of 12 – 15 games.

 

Pinto Division   Ages 7 and 8   Cost: $75 Plus Fundraiser
A standard league ball is used. To start the year, the coach will pitch four pitches to the batter and the player will get 1 attempt from the tee if unsuccessful hitting a pitched ball. The second half of the season, the coach will pitch up to 5 pitches and the tee will no longer be used. This level is designed to teach the fundamentals. No scores or standings are recorded. The division will consist of Wood Dale teams and Bensenville teams. The season will consist of 12 – 15 games.

There will be an All Star team at this level with an open tryout. There is an additional cost to play on this team to cover tournament fees and uniforms. Players must be playing on a BBAA “In House” team to play on an All Star team. All Star teams will play additional 10-12 games.

 

Mustang Division   Ages 9 and 10   Cost: $85 Plus Fundraiser
This is still instructional but the start of more competitive play. Base stealing and bunting are allowed. This is the first level where players start pitching. Scores and standings are recorded and playoffs will be held at the end of the season. This division will consist of teams from Bensenville, Wood Dale, Itasca, and Glendale Heights. The season will consist of 16 – 20 games.

There will be an All Star team at this level with an open tryout. There is an additional cost to play on this team to cover tournament fees and uniforms. Players must be playing on a BBAA “In House” team to play on an All Star team. All Star teams will play additional 12-16 games.

 

Bronco Division   Ages 11 and 12   Cost: $95 Plus Fundraiser
This is a more competitive level but the same basic rules apply in this division as Mustang. Lead-offs are allowed at this level and balks are called. Scores and standings are recorded and playoffs will be held at the end of the season. This division will consist of teams from Bensenville, Wood Dale, Itasca, and Glendale Heights. The season will consist of 16 – 20 games.

There will be an All Star team at this level with an open tryout. There is an additional cost to play on this team to cover tournament fees and uniforms. Players must be playing on a BBAA “In House” team to play on an All Star team. All Star teams will play additional 12-16 games.

 

Pony Division   Ages 13 and 14   Cost: $100 Plus Fundraiser
This is a competitive level and most High School rules apply. Metal cleats are allowed at this level. Teams will be competing in the Rosedale Baseball League which is comprised of multiple programs in the area. The season will consist of 16 – 24 games.

There will be an All Star team at this level with an open tryout. There is an additional cost to play on this team to cover tournament fees and uniforms. Players must be playing on a BBAA “In House” team to play on an All Star team. All Star teams will play additional 12-16 games.

 

Girls Fast Pitch Softball   Ages 8 Through 14  Cost: $85 (10U), $90 (12U), and $95 (14U) Plus Fundraiser
This is divided into 10U, 12U, and 14U. Scores and standings are recorded and playoffs will be held at the end of the season. We will compete against other teams in our neighboring area. The season will consist of 16 – 22 games.

New for 2010, there will be an All Star team at all three levels. We will partner will Itasca and Wood Dale to form All Star teams at each level. There will be an open tryout. There is an additional cost to play on this team to cover tournament fees and uniforms. Players must be playing on a BBAA “In House” team to play on an All Star team.
